Value Betting While Playing Poker

Whenever we make a bet in Poker, it is important that we get an idea of each and every purpose of bet and how it will be viewed by our opponents. Every bet, raise or check we make has a purpose behind it and it is mandatory to define the purpose for every hand we play. Mostly big mistakes happen in poker when medium strength hands are taken too far. We tend to blow up the pot size and get ourselves into problem later when our hand turns into second best or our opponent has a better hand already.

The point of poker bluff initiation 2 fold. We should first attempt to reduce the pot size using medium strength hand so as to see a showdown and also prevent from getting the worst of the situation or get bluffed off our hand. We should try to give the co-player some hope so that he can make a misplay so that he would put some money in the pot along with a bluff. The skill to initiate bluffs and control pot size is an important skill requirement for any player.

The important goal of bluffing is forcing our opponents into worst situations and to tempt them to make wrong bets while we protect ourselves from making such awful bets. Since every bet we make has a purpose which must be considered, we must whether bluffing or betting is required at this spot. We should think whether our opponent will call us with a wrong hand or whether we are pushing him off a better hand. One of the important skill requirements for a good player is his ability to bleak contrast between value bets and bluffs. There will be situations in which we can neither do value betting or bluffing since the strength of our hand is mediocre. We should make bets with correct meaning rather than checking them and allowing our opponents for betting worse hands.

Many of the players do not use bluff induction while playing poker and focus more on their hand strength. They will mostly double barrel on Kxx or Axx boards using top pair medium kicker cards. Though this type of play has a value of its own, it also provides solid place for our opponents to bet again. We should always consider that our opponent has called 1 bet already and he holds a hand. If we can read the hands of our opponents well, we can make big calls and we can use our weaker hand for inducing bluffs.
