Video Poker - What’s In Your Hand?

Video Poker, a game over the last 30 years or so has become a popular gambling outlet. Many people will play video poker over table poker due to being intimidated by playing with other people. When you play on a machine, the stress level goes down quite a bit. No one is watching you play your hands and you will not feel foolish if you make a mistake. Video poker allows you to have freedom in playing anywhere you want at anytime, day or night. In most gambling games, the house will always have the advantage over you; however, video poker does not follow that same rule. Your main objective is to have the winning hand. You can improve your hand by holding or discard cards from your hand. You will use buttons to either deal or draw.

When you begin to play video poker, you will receive five cards on the machine’s screen if you wish to have new cards, you can draw on all five cards. If you wish to keep your cards, you can hit the hold button under each card. Once you have decided what cards to keep and which ones to discard, you can hit the deal button. After hitting the deal button, you will see if you won or lost the hand. The amount you have made will be on the screen as well. The amount of money you receive will be determined by the hand and combinations on the front of the machine.

One of the most important things to learn is the strategy of the game. If you play your cards correctly, you will see a greater payout to you. If you make certain mistakes, you could end up losing money. Each video poker game has an individual strategy which you should learn so you do not make any costly mistakes. The first game you should really learn is called Jacks or Better. The other games are really just variations of this game.

Another important thing is to learn the hands in order to win more money at the game. The best hand is called the royal flush. The royal flush occurs when you have the ace, the king, the queen, the jack, and 10 of the same color of cards, which are hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The second best hand you can get is the straight flush. The straight flush occurs when five cards of the same suit in consecutive order, like 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Next hand is a four of a kind, which are any four cards of the same suit. A full house is where you have three cards of the same number and two cards of the same number. An example of this is the number 4 cards and number 6 cards. If you have five cards of different suits and in consecutive order you have a straight. Three of a kind is three cards or the same number. Then if you have two sets of cards of the same number you have two pair. The last potential for winnings is having a pair of jacks or better, which means having two of the face cards.
